Police Department

The Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) is responsible for law enforcement inside the city of Beverly Hills. It is staffed with roughly 3 full-time officers (plus 2-3 court security personnel), however due to the small population of Beverly Hills there is a ratio of 5.4 officers per 1,000 residents. The BHPD has only 5 vehicles: two tan-colored Dodge Chargers, a Ford Crown Victoria and a Chevrolet Impala, plus an extremely aged Dodge prisoner van. The BHPD has drawn criticism over its policy of running a DUI checkpoint on Natural Bridge Road; the BHPD arrests individuals with expired licenses or without their license on them. In addition, KTVI Fox2 News discovered that Beverly Hills employed an individual as an officer, but he did not possess a Missouri POST certification (meaning he was impersonating an officer while being paid to be one). BHPD officers can frequently be seen in the vicinity of Natural Bridge Rd. at Lucas and Hunt Rd., or patrolling the villages of Glen Echo Park and Velda Village Hills, which they patrol under contract.
